A new habit to address stress
This habit not only removes stress from your everyday life, but also helps clear the “backlog” of stress you've accumulated over your whole life.
We store stress in our cells, leading to:
fatigue
brain fog
indigestion
infertility
low libido
premature ageing
overwhelm
and a host of other things we don’t want in our lives.
Learning to meditate and form a habit was not a linear path for me. Over 30 years ago my first yoga teacher spotted my monkey mind and tried to guide me, but I didn't get it and I didn't even want to. I was only interested in learning to stand on my head.
Years later, I attended a mindfulness/yoga workshop where the meditation teacher looked so tranquil - a far cry from my life of juggling and being 'always on'. When she held up a thick book and said 'read this, it’s my bible' I couldn't get out of the room quick enough.
I had no idea that the gift she was trying to share with me would one day save my life.
Stress kills
Fast track to 2013, when, after years of low grade chronic stress my body gave me the wake up call I needed to pay attention in the form of a cancer diagnosis.
Stress accounts for 90% of GP visits and is a catalyst to the manifestation of most chronic diseases. Even knowing this, I still looked outside of myself for the solution. Acupuncture, homeopathy, osteopathy - anything that didn't require me to do the work and pay attention inside.
Had I not eventually listened to some wise teachers to go within, I'm convinced I would have perpetuated a cycle of stress induced disease.
From the moment I experienced my first light bulb moment in meditation, I knew I would have to share and correctly teach this tool those trying to get to grips with practice to form a habit.
Helping people retrain their nervous systems and the body to begin performing the way they’re intended. I felt my calling to empower others to show up in all aspects of life as their highest selves.
Are you ready to deepen your practice and move beyond mindfulness to the practice of self enquiry?
Once our minds are wired for sustained attention and high awareness we are primed to become the observer of our mental affliction; craving, addictions, judgements, attachments and so on. These afflictions underpin our human suffering. Once we've mastered our distorted views we begin to cultivate the two wings of enlightenment; compassion & wise intuition along with equanimity and sympathetic joy. This become less of a practice and more a way of being in the world and is a pathway to inner peace and abundant joy - like most I am work in progress but enjoying every step of the journey.
Deepening your practice sessions are held every Friday at 8.45am.
